Estate Planning 101

Are you wondering: What is estate planning, exactly? What types of documents do most people need? What happens if you don't have those documents? Do I need to make a Will? How is a Will different from a Trust? Is it really better to hire an attorney, or do the online forms work just fine? What happens if I need to change something? What happens if I get married or divorced, have (more) children, or move to another state? Would it be better for me to wait until I'm older to do this?

Ampersand Law’s "Estate Planning 101" is a free informational & educational email series that might have some answers for you. Over the course of a month, you’ll get six emails. The first one is some general housekeeping info and then the following five will each address one of these topic areas:

1. What is estate planning? What documents are involved in this process?

2. What does it mean to "avoid probate?" Why do people say it's important to "avoid probate?"

3. What is a Power of Attorney? Why does a young/healthy/competent person need one?

4. What's the difference between a Will and a Trust? Are all Trusts the same?

5. When is the best time to do an estate plan? Is there any difference between hiring an attorney or doing the documents online?

This is an opt-in/opt-out no obligations & no expectations informational email series. Each email will contain a single link to connect with Attorney Heather Hazelwood about your estate planning needs, but this will not be a month-long sales pitch (promise!). These emails ARE NOT legal advice. They are not tailored for you. They are for informational purposes only. Attorney Heather Hazelwood is not your attorney and you are not her client.
